This photo of Dr Wayne Dyer and myself was taken in June 2015 in Maui, Hawaii and represents exhilaration, joy and love.
Let me tell you how it came about …
I’m a co-author with Dr Wayne Dyer in the book ‘The Path to Success’ and had travelled to Maui, Hawaii to attend the Hay House Writer’s Workshop which he was presenting with Reid Tracy and Doreen Virtue.
During Days 1 and 2 of the Writer’s Workshop I hadn’t had a chance to meet with Wayne for a photograph because he was such a popular and wise man, everyone was clambering for his attention. At the lunch break on Day 3, I went out and bought a take away salad to eat inside the venue as I wanted to be first in line when Wayne held his meet and greet at 1.30pm.
I was sitting enjoying my lunch when I was joined by a lovely lady who I ‘clicked’ with immediately and we became so engaged in an enjoyable conversation about health and nutrition that I forgot to go and line up for Wayne. Half an hour later I looked up and the line of people was more than 30 metres long. It was so long that it extended out the doors of the conference room!
I quickly excused myself from my conversation explaining that I had to go and get my photograph taken with Wayne Dyer.
As I made my way to the back of the line my logical mind knew there was no way Wayne Dyer was going to be able to make his way through all these people in the 30 minutes we had left before the afternoon session resumed. Despite the “reality” of my situation (which didn’t look promising at all) I kept my faith and belief intact and took my place at the end of the line, with my intention of having a photograph with Wayne Dyer clearly defined and sitting firmly where it belonged – at the forefront of my mind.
Despite the disheartening “reality” of my situation, I kept my faith and belief intact and my intention clearly defined at the forefront of my mind.
One of the fellow Writer’s Workshop attendees came up and asked what we were all lining up for. We explained that we were waiting in line to get our photo taken with Wayne Dyer. A look of confusion crossed her face as she said, “Wayne’s not in there, he’s out in the lobby, near the elevators.” It’s as if that messenger was sent to speak directly to me because no-one else ‘got’ her message except me. That was my cue and I seized the chance … and I was the only person who left the long line and made my way to the elevators.
When I arrived at the lobby Wayne was nowhere in sight but I decided to wait there anyway as I knew he would have to come past me to re-enter the conference room. I didn’t have to wait long, a few minutes later Wayne rounded the corner and I introduced myself and asked if we could have a photograph taken together.
As I was looking around for someone to take our picture, Wayne Dyer said: “Let’s take a selfie, I love selfie’s!”
And that’s what we did …
My face shows the pure joy I felt when Wayne took my camera from me and snuggled in close to take this fabulous selfie – a picture that displays his face full of love and mine thrilled that we were experiencing this moment together.
Wayne Dyer, you were an extraordinary man.
Thank you for sharing so much wisdom during your time on Earth.
Thank you for being so gracious and generous, for giving time to your adoring audience and taking time out for your fans.
Thank you for leaving the world a better place for the time you spent in it.
You hold a special place in my heart and I will treasure our photograph forever.
